Designed by local trail builder, Peter Jackson, Cape George Heritage Trails offers 37 km of trails with connected loops and linear sections on the Cape George peninsula, overlooking St. George's Bay. Amazing beauty, panoramic views at various points with elevations up to 600 ft. above sea level, the degree of hiking difficulty ranges from easy to challenging. You may sit beside a natural “Bubbling Spring”, enjoy the waterfalls, walk along the coast, sit on the beach, enjoy geo-caching, or take a rest on benches placed by loved ones throughout the trail honouring heritage families. While hiking, enjoy the birds singing, the rivers flowing, different wildflowers and the wildlife.

The trails are marked and maintained by the North Shore Development Association. Benches are located at several points along the trail for resting.

The trail consists of: 7 looped trails covering distances of 2-12 km, 5 point-to-point trails covering distances of 7-21 km, with several walking bridges that cross brooks and streams. 29 km of coastal trails, 6 km of river valleys, and 3 km along the shoreline. The Cape George Lighthouse is within walking distance. Trail heads are located at Cape George Day Park, Cape George Heritage School, and Ballantyne’s Cove Wharf. Maps are provided at all trail heads but are not necessary as the trail is lettered and at each intersection there is a map to guide you. There is something for everyone!
